About

Built by people who have stood in the queue

Payvio started because sending $200 to Lagos cost $16 and took three days, and nobody could tell us why.

The problem was never the technology

Moving money between two banks is a solved engineering problem. The reason a transfer to Africa cost 8% and took three days was that the cost sat in places you could not see: an exchange rate quietly 4% off the mid-market, a correspondent bank taking a cut, a receiving fee nobody mentioned until the money was short.

So we built the boring version. Publish the margin. Lock the rate. Check the account name before the money moves. Pay out through local partners so a transfer at 9pm on a Saturday still lands in five minutes, because that is when people actually send money home.

We are not the cheapest on every corridor every day, and we will not claim to be. We are the one that tells you exactly what it costs before you decide.

What we hold to

Three commitments

  • 01

    Publish the price

Our margin is on the fees page because a price you have to reverse-engineer is not a price. If we ever raise it, that page changes first and we email you.

  • 02

The number you see is the number they get

No estimates, no “up to”. We lock the rate for 30 minutes and absorb the movement ourselves.

  • 03

    Build for the person receiving

Most remittance products are designed for the sender. We check the recipient’s account name before you confirm, and we tell them when money lands.
