How it works

Money home in about ninety seconds

No branch queue, no forms, no wondering where the money went. Here is the whole process, and what we do to make sure it arrives.

How it works

Three steps, about ninety seconds

No branch queue, no paperwork, no wondering where the money went.

  1. 01

    Pick who, and how much

Choose a recipient and a country. The rate appears before you commit and stays locked for 30 minutes.

  2. 02

    Pay the way you like

Debit card or bank transfer, both free. Credit card if you are in a hurry. You see the total before you confirm.

  3. 03

    They get paid

Straight into a bank account, a mobile wallet or cash pickup. You both get told the moment it lands.

Ways to be paid

Three ways the money can land

You choose per transfer. A recipient can have more than one, so you can switch if a bank is slow that day.

  • Bank transfer

Straight into an account at any major bank. Usually under five minutes, and it works at weekends.

  • Mobile money

M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, OPay, Airtel and more. The money lands in their wallet, ready to spend.

  • Cash pickup

For family without a bank account. They collect at any partner agent with an ID and the reference.

What we promise

Three things that stop money going missing

  • The rate is locked

From the moment you see a quote you have 30 minutes. If the market moves against us in that window, we absorb it.

  • We check the name

Before you confirm, we ask the receiving bank whose account it is and show you the answer. Wrong-account sends are the most common way money goes missing.

  • Cancel until payout

Free cancellation any time before the money is paid out. Refunds go back to the card or account you paid from.

Questions people actually ask

How long does a transfer really take?

Instant transfers to bank accounts and mobile wallets typically complete in under five minutes, including weekends. Standard transfers settle in one to two business days. If a receiving bank is doing maintenance we will tell you in the app and give you an updated time.

What do I need to sign up?

A US phone number, an email address, and a government ID — a driver’s licence, passport, state ID or permanent resident card. We also ask for the last four digits of your SSN, which US law requires for money transmission. It takes about three minutes.

How much can I send?

Up to $10,000 a month once you are verified, and $4,500 in a single transfer. You can request a higher limit from Limits & fees in the app; approval usually takes one business day.

What if I send to the wrong account?

We check the account name with the receiving bank before you confirm, which prevents most of these. If a transfer has not been paid out yet you can cancel it for free from the transfer screen. If it has been paid out, contact support immediately and we will open a recall with the receiving bank.

Do you charge my recipient anything?

No. The amount you see under “They receive” is the amount that arrives. Your recipient is never charged a fee by Payvio, and we do not take a cut on the receiving end.
