The short version. You open an account, we verify who you are because the law requires it, and you can send money to the countries we support. We show you the rate and total before you confirm. You can cancel free until payout. We cannot reverse a transfer once it has been paid out. Disputes go to arbitration unless you opt out within 30 days.
1. Who we are
Payvio Financial, Inc. ("Payvio", "we") is a Delaware corporation at 548 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94104, licensed as a money transmitter in all 50 US states under NMLS #2048113. We are not a bank. We do not lend your money or pay interest on it.
2. Opening an account
You must be 18 or older, resident in the United States, and using the account for yourself — not on behalf of an undisclosed third party. Federal law requires us to verify your identity before you can transact. We will ask for your name, date of birth, address, government ID and the last four digits of your Social Security Number. If we cannot verify you, we cannot open the account, and we are not always permitted to tell you why.
One account per person. You are responsible for keeping your PIN and device secure. Tell us immediately if you think someone else has access.
3. Sending money
Before you confirm a transfer we show you the amount you pay, the exchange rate, every fee, the amount your recipient receives, and an expected delivery time. That quote is binding on us for 30 minutes. If the market moves against us inside that window, we absorb it.
Delivery times are our best estimate based on the payout rail and the receiving institution. They are not guarantees. A receiving bank's maintenance window, a public holiday, or a compliance review on their side can delay a payout, and once we have handed the money over we cannot control their timing.
We may refuse or delay a transfer where we are required to by law, where we suspect fraud or coercion, where the recipient details fail verification, or where the transfer would breach sanctions. Where we are legally permitted to explain, we will.
4. Fees and the exchange rate
Every fee we charge is published at payvio.com/fees. Our exchange rate is the mid-market rate plus a margin of 0.4%. That margin is disclosed, applies equally to all customers, and is the only charge not itemised as a fee. If we change it, that page changes before the change takes effect and we will email you.
Your card issuer or bank may charge you separately — a cash-advance fee on a credit card top-up, for example. Those are their charges, not ours.
5. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel a transfer free of charge at any time before it is paid out to your recipient. Refunds return to the original payment method, typically within one to five business days depending on your bank.
Once a transfer has been paid out we cannot reverse it. If you sent to the wrong person or the wrong account, contact us immediately and we will open a recall request with the receiving institution — but a recall depends entirely on their cooperation and the funds still being there. We cannot promise recovery.
Federal remittance rules give you a separate right to cancel within 30 minutes of paying, at no cost, for a full refund. That right applies regardless of anything else in this section.
6. Wallets
You may hold balances in the currencies we support. Holding a currency is not an investment product and we make no representation about future exchange-rate movement. US dollar balances are held at our partner bank, segregated from company funds, and FDIC-insured up to $250,000. Local-currency balances are held with licensed partners in their market and are not FDIC-insured — that protection is dollar-only.
7. Your obligations
You will not use Payvio for anything unlawful, for gambling where prohibited, for cryptocurrency purchase, or to move money on behalf of someone whose identity is hidden from us. You will not send money to someone who has asked you to under pressure or as part of a scheme you have been recruited into. If a transfer looks like a romance or investment scam we may pause it and call you, and we would rather annoy you than let you lose money.
8. Closing an account
You may close your account at any time once your balance is withdrawn. We may close or suspend an account where we are required to by law, where you breach these terms, or where continued service would expose us to unacceptable risk. Where we can give notice, we will give 30 days and return your balance.
We are required to retain transaction records for five years after closure. That is a legal obligation and we cannot waive it, including in response to a deletion request.
9. Liability
We are liable for our own failures — money we lose, transfers we misroute, fees we charge in error. We are not liable for delays caused by a receiving institution, for losses arising from details you entered incorrectly and we could not detect, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability we cannot limit by law, including for fraud or gross negligence on our part.
10. Complaints and disputes
Complain first — our process, timescales and the regulator you can escalate to are at payvio.com/complaints. Most things are resolved there.
If a dispute cannot be resolved, it will be settled by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, and you and we both waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing legal@payvio.com within 30 days of opening your account; opting out does not affect your service in any way.
11. Changes to these terms
We will give you 30 days' notice by email before any change that reduces your rights or increases your costs. Continuing to use Payvio after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not, close your account and withdraw your balance — we will not charge you to do so.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
